Research Seems to Show What We Already Know

• Allan Luks has studied the Helper’s High extensively.  According to his research, 90 percent of those who give rate their health higher than those who don’t.
• In another study of 2700 men, death rates were two and a half times lower for those who did regular volunteer work.
• Harvard researchers discovered what they called the “Mother Theresa Effect”.  They found that student’s immune system response actually kicked in just by watching movies of the late Mother Theresa helping the poor in India.

Substances as toxic to the body as heavy metals must be taken out slowly. The system cannot tolerate too much being taken out at once. Consequently, the common denominator in using any of these is patience.

Gentle But Effective

Cilantro and chlorella are a mellow duo. They present an effective synergy at removing heavy metals. Cilantro is pretty good at getting the metal out of the deep parts of the body but often doesn’t take it clear out of the body, depositing it in surface tissues.  Consquently it is good to use cilantro together with chlorella. Chlorella, however, can do what it does without any help.

Alpha-Lipoic Acid, or Thioctic Acid, is another powerful heavy metal detoxifier.  It binds and eliminates metals such as cadmium, mercury, and copper, because of its sulphur properties.

A Quality Not In Vogue

Qualities like being submissive, easily imposed upon, and gentle when provoked, cross the heart of our society today. We don’t aspire to such action. Fair or like treatment is more like our response: “An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth” at best, and “many eyes for an eye, many teeth for a tooth” at worst.

Gentle Strength

True strength, however, is meekness. Meekness is not the same as weakness. The measure of a person’s power has nothing to do with it. Meekness is an attitude of response to others, not a social status.

Like Water

Chinese philosopher, Lao Tsu said:

“Water is the most prevalent, soft, and yielding substance in the world, yet it wears down the hard and strong. None can overcome it though anyone can conquer it.  That which is yielding conquers the strong and the soft overcomes that which is hard.  Everybody knows this, yet no one dares to live by it.”

Water is the most powerful symbol of meekness or gentle strength.

Recently, water has been studied extensively as we have realized that there is more to water than meets the eye.  What we have discovered is mind bending and I believe stands out in metaphors for meekness.  Above all, it is symbolic of our meek God, whose meekness is only one attribute of His love.

What can we learn about meekness, grace, and God from the discoveries about water below?

No other substance acts like water*:

• Water’s density increased below the freezing point and increases above it.
• Instead of contracting when it is cooled, water expands.
• Water is the only substance on the planet that can exist in three states: liquid, solid, and gas.
• Water has the highest surface tension of all liquids.
• Water is the most powerful solvent on earth.
• How, in defiance of the earth’s gravity, is water able to rise through the trunks of gigantic trees against 10s of atmospheres of pressure?
• When trapped, water is capable of generating enormous pressure.  In a seed, for example, it reached 400 atmospheres at the moment of germination.  That is why a plant shoot can break through rock or asphalt with ease.
• Every living thing is dependent on water for its very structure and function.  Every seed, every embrio, begins its life exclusively in water.
• Water has memory.  Though it is such a small, simple molecule, the structures it forms when clustered together are complex and form as kind of magnetic tape that remembers everything, both physical and energetic, that it has come into contact with.  Water changes for good or bad depending on its experience.  It is the most maliable computer every discovered.
• The universe is connected by huge streams of information.  In our world, water plays the key role in how that information is exchanged.  In effect, it is the medium through which all nature is governed.
• Human emotions have the most powerful effect on water.  Positive emotions increase the energy of water and stablize it, while negative emotions reduce its energy and make radically harmful changes in it.  Consider this in light of the fact that we are mostly water.

In Harmony With Water

Jesus said, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”  The earth is mostly water and those who inherit the earth must know how to live in harmony with water.  Becoming meek is a big part of that and I think Jesus had water in mind when He said those words.

Water is gently strong.  Each of us has been given an element from the water of primeval ocean.  Our every word is like a water drop, a medium of thought, and a source of information.  We either resonate with The Primeval Water and become vessels of life or we pollute our own well and contaminate our place on earth with death.

Water is Like It’s Master

Jesus resonated with water and held it at his command.  He walked on it, calmed its fury, and washed our feet with it.  He yields to serve the weakest in His creation because He is meek like water.  He cares for each like His own life.  The Lord of the Cosmos is who He is because He is meek.  He is strong because He is a servant.  He is a servant king.

We Have Fallen Far

Lao Tzu said, “Everybody knows this (what water is like), yet no one dares to live by it.”  Because of our self-centered, fallen nature, we don’t have what it takes to be meek. We challenge others and explode when they dare to dispute our position. We demand just recompense for all those who violate us. We have fallen far from meekness.

The Only Way to Meekness

Only a dynamic connection with the Lord of Meekness can give us this gentle strength.  Only by resonating with The Primeval Water can we become vessels of life and meekness to others in our world.  Only by allowing Him to immerse us and cleanse us with water can we come to Him.  Now this Water Lord holds this fluid out to us, saying, “Come, and wash in the water of life without cost.  Return to the health and heritage that only comes through meekness”.

The Lymph Cleanse Problem

Most people know about how the heart pumps blood through the body.  But mention the lymphatic system and you will get blank stares.  Most people don’t know what it is, where it is, or what it does.

Where Cells Go When They Die

The lymphatic system is how the body takes care of its waste.  Where do dead and injured cells go?  How does the body rid itself of heavy metals, poisonous chemicals, viruses, and other toxins?  That would be the lymph system.

Only Three Ways Of Movement

The trouble in the lymphatic system starts because, unlike the blood in our bodies, the lymph system doesn’t have a “heart” to move fluid through its lymph vessels.  It only moves in one of three ways: contraction of our muscles, the force of gravity, and massage.

Heating Compress For The Throat (Double Throat Compress)

Putting a wet, cold cloth around the neck is a common household treatment to reduce congestion in the throat and to help sooth a sore throat, hoarseness, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis, and neck pain or tension. A heating throat compress will improve the circulation to your neck and help to speed up the healing process. This throat compress will decrease congestion in the throat and head and will offer some pain relief. It is very comforting when suffering from a sore throat.

What You Will Need:

• A bandana or thin strip of cotton cloth that is long enough to wrap around your throat just once
• A wool scarf or strip of wool cloth that is thicker and longer than the cotton cloth. You should be able to overlap the cotton cloth and safely pin it. A large wool sock will work.
• A warm bath/shower (optional)
• Cold tap water
• Wash cloth
• Towel
• 2 safety pins
• Essential oils  (optional but oils like eucalyptus can increase the treatment’s effectiveness)

Here’s What To Do:

1. Make sure your neck (and your body) is warm before applying the heating compress. Either warm up with a warm wash cloth or bath/shower.

2. Wet the bandana or cotton cloth in cold water. If you use essential oils, you can add them to a bowl or sink of cold water. You don’t have to wring it out too much. A quite a bit of water can be left in it and it will still be dry in the morning.

3. Place the cold bandana/cloth around your neck. Make sure it is secure but not too tight. The ends should overlap each other.

4. Wrap the wool scarf or sock over the cotton layer and around your throat, tucking in the ends to keep it in place or securing them with safety pins.

5. This can be done while awake but is more commonly left on overnight. Always keep your body warm during this treatment.

6. When you remove the compress, wash your neck with a cold wash cloth and dry off.

Heating Compress for Feet (Warming Socks or Wet Sock Compress)

I know that putting wet socks on your feet before you go to bed doesn’t sound like the best idea for a good night’s sleep. But try this once and you will be hooked! If you have a cold coming on, it can turn a stuffy, congested, sleepless night into a restful one. This has got to be one of the best home remedies for colds. If you have head congestion and want to sleep, then put on a pair of cold, wet socks and go to bed!

Warming socks are great for increasing circulation as your body tries to warm up your feet. They relieve congestion in your head, throat, and lungs. They also excel at getting rid of stress headaches and boosting your immune system. And if you have insomnia, this treatment will make you sleep like a baby. The wet sock compress only gets better when used on consecutive nights.

What You Will Need:

• A pair of white cotton socks
• A pair of wool socks with high wool content
• A warm bath/shower (optional)
• Cold tap water or a cold basin of water if you are using essential oils
• Lavender essential oil

Here’s What To Do:

1. Make sure you are warm to the core. Take a hot foot bath, full bath or shower if needed.

2. If you are going to use essential oils, begin by placing a few drops of oil in a basin of cold water.

3. Dip the cotton socks in cold water and wring them out. They should be damp but not dripping. You only need to get the foot part of the sock wet but either way is fine.

4. Put the cold socks on your warm feet.

5. Pull the dry wooll socks over the wet cotton ones.

6. Hop into bed. Within 15 minutes your socks will begin warming up. Of course, by then you will be asleep.

7. In the morning take the socks off. They will be completely dry.

What is Christmas?

Every year I feel the magic of Christmas again, like ripples spreading in my chest. I have often wondered why they wash over me and give me goose bumps; wondered at their reflections in my mind. Looking closely, it is a Baby I see there, breaking my stagnant stillness; a Baby of whose tale I never tire. From the epicenter of the manger, the gentle waves have expanded to take in long held family and cultural traditions of myth, story, and song. They embrace friendships, trimmings and food. Each Season it is all here in these wonderful, enchanted waves that break in my heart.

Part of this festive mix is the jolly old elf we call Santa Claus. He comes to me across the centuries with a splash of Yuletide passion. Yet not everyone gets delightfully wet. The tsunami of cynical skepticism drowns many. And so the thrilling patterns that move the heart are lost.

But they are not lost on me. I still revel in their enchanted fullness for I believe in Santa Claus.

Is Seeing Believing?

Some say, “Seeing is believing.” But can everything that is real be distinguished by sight, smell, taste, sound or touch? Love is real; hope is real; happiness is real. Yet can we see or touch them? Sometimes seeing is believing. And sometimes the most real things in the world are the things we cannot see.*

There are many things that embody this colorful collection of emotions that I feel at Christmastime. Santa Claus is an important persona of these very real feelings that are my holiday spirit. I cannot deny the existence of Santa Claus anymore than I can deny the existence of these feelings.

A Spirit

Santa Claus is a magical spirit that lives inside of me when I believe in him. It is this spirit that makes Santa real and while it is in me, he is as real as I am. To say it another way, I am the real Santa Claus while the Christmas spirit is in me.

So Santa Claus, the jolly gift-giver of myth, lives in me—casting magical ripples across my heart and imagination. He is as real as love and generosity. He is a personification of my Christmas Spirit—a symbol of Christmas itself. With other embodiments of the Season, he brings Christmas home to me.

“The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear and feel the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.” – John 3:8

Do You Believe?

But he is only real for as long as I believe he is real and not a moment longer. When my friends tell me that Santa is not real, they are right. Sadly, he isn’t real for them any more. And part of the magic of Christmas dies with him. This is true of all feelings and emotions. How many of us live without the fullness of love, faith, or hope because we do not believe. Yet if you believe Santa Claus is real, like I do, then he is. Then Christmas and the world become a richer place—a place of poetry, fancy, and song. And there Santa lives in all of his enchanted splendor for as long as you want him to—even until you are as old as I am. All of us, not just the children, should believe in him.

The maelstrom of unbelieve has often threatened the joyful ripples in my spirit. But I have come to realize that the measure of the enjoyment I experience in life is my decision. And choosing to believe in very real things I cannot see has made all the difference.

Are You Sure?

I’ve heard you are a doubter. I’ve heard you don’t believe in Santa Claus. Doubting has often made me sick.  Belief is one of the most affordable health cures.

I invite you to think again.

But for me, belief is a decision I have already made. The closing words of the movie, The Polar Express, perfectly describe how I feel:

“At one time, most of my friends could hear the bell. But as years passed, it fell silent for all of them. Even Sarah found, one Christmas, that she could no longer hear its sweet sound. Though I have grown old, the bell still rings for me, as it does for all who truly believe.”
