10 Tips to Step Up Your Water Intake
Water is an amazing blessing. A drink of healing water is a critical way to preserve health. But our problem is to get it into our bodies. Here are some ways to make it easier.
10 Ways To Increase Water Consumption
- Drink a large glass or two in the morning before you put anything else in. This is important because you are most dehydrated and toxin after hours of sleep and repair. This is huge for health and function.
- Drink a glass of water when you go to bed. This will give you body fluid for processing while you are asleep.
- Stop to drink regularly throughout the day. Keep a bottle of water by you at all times. Don’t wait to drink until you are thirsty.
- Don’t drink sodas, caffeinated beverages, or juice in place of water. These are not a substitute for water. They actually cause dehydration in the body by causing the body to jettison more liquid than is drunk.
- Drink a glass of water half an hour before you eat and half an hour after the meal. Your body’s organs need water to support the digestive process-just not too much. Drinking too much with your meals can dilute digestion, but some is ok. However, it is better to drink half an hour on either side.
- When you exercise, drink before, during, and after. Drink a quart of water for every hour of exercise and more if it is a hot day.
- Get plenty of salt with your increased water intake. Most people don’t get enough. Water intake needs to be balanced with salt intake, about ¼ teaspoon per quart (4-5 glasses). Use the best naturally processed salt you can get such as Redmond RealSalt.
- Eat your water. Eat water filled foods like watermelon.
- Spice your water up with some natural flavoring. Add some lemon or some other flavor. Freeze little bits of peeled lemons, limes, and oranges and use them in place of ice cubes – it’s refreshing and helps get in a serving or two of fruit.
- Ice it down or heat it up. For some it is easier to drink cold water. Some people like to have a hot mug in their hands. You can use an insulated water bottle to keep it hot or cold.
Keep in mind that while your body gets used to an increase in water intake, you’ll be making your way to the bathroom a lot more. You’ll quickly adapt to this and bathroom breaks will drop back down to normal.
If you use even a few of these tips, you will be drinking a lot more water than you did before. And the more healing water you drink, the healthier you will be.
