A Facial Sauna: A Prescription For Body And Soul
A Facial Sauna: Roots of Effectiveness
Of course it would have to be true. That something as simple and abundant as water would be the most powerful healing agent on the planet. I should have known. There are clues in the ancient writings. The metaphor of water proclaims its power in a thought: cleansing. The action of this cleansing isn’t always apparent. In fact, it often morphs from simple to mysterious, especially in the spiritual realm.
A Facial Sauna: Symbol of Our Deepest Breath
Steam is almost in that realm. It is not quite as mysterious as the wind but it’s still nothing you can get your hands on. And it is steam in particular that works its magic on the breath of man.
A lung full of steam can relieve can bring relief to troubled breathing. It opens up the airways, gets rid of mucus, and hastens healing. Add some essential oils to the water and you will be reborn. But wasn’t it Christ who said that by being born of water and of the Spirit, we could escape death?
Renewing The Man In The Mirror
Death is not all that we would like to escape though. A look in the mirror reminds some of us of an appearance we’d like to flee. But steam doesn’t just cleanse the inside but the outside too. It contemplates the healing of the whole man.
There is no better way to deep cleanse the skin than an encounter with a swirling head of steam, especially the face. All sorts of things happen; unclogging, detoxing, better circulation. It is a wonderful way to revitalize the man in the mirror.
A Good Start
So whether it is superficial or deep, physical or spiritual, water in all forms is cleansing. Cleansing may be as simple as a facial sauna or as mystical as the Spirit, but there is no doubt that we all need more of it. A steamy shower or sink is a good place to begin.
